Black Mountain Blues Festival

2026

Blues in Black Mountain

Every September, Black Mountain hosts one of the best blues weekends in the region. The Black Mountain Blues Festival is a focused, single-genre event run by the Black Mountain Blues Society, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving and growing the blues across Western North Carolina.

The festival takes place at White Horse Black Mountain in the heart of downtown, with a lineup that spans the roots and regional variations of American blues. It draws serious music fans alongside curious newcomers, and the outdoor setting keeps things relaxed. The crowd tends to be knowledgeable and the atmosphere is genuinely communal.

The 2026 dates are September 25–27. Acts range from strong regional players to national names, and the scale of the event means you're never far from the stage. Between sets, downtown Black Mountain is easy to explore on foot — good coffee, independent restaurants, and galleries within a few blocks.

Planning Your Visit

Black Mountain is about 20 minutes east of Asheville on I-40. Accommodation fills up fast for festival weekend, so book early. Parking in town is manageable if you arrive outside of peak hours, and the venue is a short walk from most of the downtown lots.
